that's because samsung supplies all these companies with parts for their phones. Sue Samsung, risk getting the shaft on internals! We'll see what happens.
Yeah, I'm wondering if this is a smart move on Apple's part for that reason. Unless they've lined up another supplier that we don't know about.

well, in the past they have run this promotion and released new product without adding it to the rebate. so... i guess it would not be strange, no.
Although I agree the post was condescending, Apple did in fact add MacPros to the iPod promotion when they were released.

What a waste of space. The time distance between now and 2015 is 4 years. The iPhone didn't even exist four years ago, and is now the king of the mountain. Who knows what new technology Apple or others will come up between during the next four years. Asinine.
It is highly likely that at some point Apple will release a cost reduced iPhone, for example... whilst a large proportion of Nokia's customers aren't getting Nokia SmartPhones, and might resist moving to WP7 devices, however 'FeaturePhone-ised' they are made.

Hmm mixed feelings about this.
I want them to be successful, but I also want:
- DVD extras
- HD resolution
- burnable to disc
- rental system
I hope success won't lull them into thinking the current restrictions are ok. :(
Oh well, I can stick with DVDs.

Apple is bringing out a new desktop! I mean think about it they haven't really bought out a new desktop for agess all they have done is switch all products to intel.
**Edit, IMO i think its silly because whos gonna pay $14.99 for a movie on a tiny screen, and if they make it to watch on your computer then its just going to take hours and hours to download if you have a slow broadband connection
If you pay whatever price for a "lisence" to a movie it makes sense you have a lisence to a variety of resolutions for the 5 CPU's you are allowed to run them on, FOREVER (Time Machine).
Stop whining. Or not.
As for the so-called video iPod, it seems to me such a device has far more uses than a mere media replayer. It could be a remote control. It could be a PDA. It could be a 3G/4G internet portal, standalone or for an external computer, such as a, gag, MacBook.
Further, such a device is easily reprogrammable as a dictation machine, a bar code reader, a video camera, a still camera, etc, etc, etc. Some functions might need a dongle to the extent they are not implemented in Rev. 1A.

But the current Core Duos are "mobile" processors right?

It makes sense. iProducts are increasingly becoming ubiquitous, therefore they will become more profitable for malware developers to attack. It's not a McAfee sales pitch so much as it's stating the obvious. Same with Android.
No, it doesn't. The only way your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch is vulnerable to these things is if YOU jailbreak it. Even then, the number of jail broken IOS devices is and will remain too small a target to go after. This is why Apple has a walled garden, and why the Android model is destined to follow the PC down the virus/botnet hell hole. It's also why AV vendors would prefer that you bought Android or Windows mobile.

Other songs from their hard drives. That would be truly awesome! I do hope that that makes it into the final product.

September 12 SteveNote. Well I must have posted that phrase scores of times earlier this year - just didn't think it would be in San Francisco instead of Paris. All the better. Perfect ending to a wonderful Summer 2006.
Lots for him to talk about.
Core 2 Duo will be the star.
End of Core Solo minis.
All new redesigned MacBook Pro.
All new iMac design with Conroe inside.
iTunes Media Store Movie Downloads.
Maybe even "One More Thing"

Any one know when the 45nm architecture processors are going to appear?
I'm gonna wait for those, for OS X 10.5 and iLife 07 to invest in a Mac

I really don't think it is necessary to call me or any member of my family "pathetic." There's nothing wrong with manipulating the system to your advantage, if you do it for a valid purpose (such as teaching a crappy driver a lesson).
-Don
So, to teach someone a lesson, your mom caused an accident, lied to the police and as a result the other driver had to pay out almost $20,000.
You and your mother are pathetic. Hopefully, someday you will be on the receiving end of someone who games the system and it costs you big time.

Ah, but note Fig 3, especially item labelled 38.
I can tell you right now that today's cube does not have any type of fan.
Multitasking right now, and my Cube is COMPLETELY inaudiable. No fan.
If the patent includes a fan, as this one clearly does, it could well be new. While our Cubes have no fans, they do have a fan mounting location on the inside of the bottom of the system. Apple originally planned on installing a fan there but figured out how they didn't have to. Cube upgraders to dual G4 processors put a fan there. I know this because I was planning on doing a dual G4 processor upgrade to one - own two. In fact, I bought the second one specifically for that purpose. But which model to upgrade with I never made up my mind. Here's the Barefeats page on the subject (http://www.barefeats.com/cubeup.html).
But then I made the leap to the D 2 G5 and never looked back.

Also, I will not buy this phone if it is branded. I don't want some carrier's company name on my phone. Do you guys think Apple will allow Cingular to place their logo on the phone?
In addition, doesn't Cingular alter the OEM software that comes on the phone? Why would I want to buy a phone that has been crippled? For example, if Apple makes it quad-band, and then I take a vacation to Europe and buy a prepaid sim only to later find that either the 900 or 1800 band has been disabled, thus giving me very bad coverage in certain areas. That would suck.
I would really like to purchase an Apple phone (mainly so I can save my sms messages to my Mac so I don't have to delete them everytime my phone's memory is full).

hahaha, if you read the original report by The Guardian link here:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/apr/20/iphone-tracking-prompts-privacy-fears
You will see that it does indeed state the Apple EULA at the end of the article, the part that seems to have been strangely left off all same reports in Mac Rumors, Engadget, 9TO5MAC all quoting The Guardian source :rolleyes:

Lots of smartphones are total iPhone ripoffs with added features. They're seemingly slower, more complicated and crash more though. There's some things I absolutely hate about the iPhone, but it's an okay tradeoff.
Thats totally untrue though. Yes a lot of the wanna-be's are cheap and plastic crap but saying that an HTC EVO or Samsung Epic are slow and crash frequently is ridiculous. My EVO has been flawless since I got it (minus of course the battery life but I use 4G all the time).
Like I've said before... the iPhone and the top end Android devices are almost identical now.

Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be another device like the Apple hi-fi. What a let down that was!
So we will get movie service from iTunes, a new iPOD NANO with a metal scratchproof case, a new Airport extreme with Audio and Video OUT... no hi-def for sure... and a bump in processor speed for the whole line.
Am I really leaving anything out?
We'll see next week. The hype always just creates this big let down for me. Hopefully my negative attitude will bring me happiness, regardless of what is presented.
WHY SUCH A LONG WAIT???
