The National Postdoctoral Association is a professional association that provides a unique, national voice for postdoctoral scholars. The NPA was founded in 2003, with an ambitious agenda to enhance the quality of the postdoctoral experience. The NPA incorporated in the District of Columbia in 2005 as a non-profit organization. The IRS has approved the NPA as a charitable, educational organization under 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Charitable contributions to the NPA are tax deductible.
Since its founding, the NPA has assumed a leadership role in addressing the many issues confronting the postdoctoral community that are national in scope, requiring action beyond the local level. Key alliances are being forged at all levels, and new standards and policies proposed by NPA are being considered and adopted by federal agencies and research institutions throughout the U.S.

I am currently on H1 Visa in the US. Am I allowed to go to school part-time and get my MBA degree ?
And also, I am looking at a big amount of money that I gotta pay for tuition, does anyone know any tax credits that we can use to reduce the burden ?
Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, you can do part-time MBA without issues. There are tax breaks both at the federal and possibly the state level (NY has a tax break for students). The tax software will guide you thru it.

Hello friends,
I am on L1B and working in US for last 3 1/2 years. My L1 visa will expire in Jun 2011. In between another company is ready to sponsor H1B for me and it will file it in April 2010. So here are my questions.
1. From when i can start working with new company on H1 ? From Jun 2010 (after getting H1 approval) or will have to wait till Oct 2010 ?
2. What will be the duration of my new H1B visa, considering i already used 4 years of my L1 ? Is it 6 years or only 2 years ?

I think you need to have a consultation with an immigration lawyer, if you want a legal opinion from someone other than your current lawyer. There isn't really enough information in your question to give an answer. Without knowing why the L-1A petition was denied, it's very hard to suggest a strategy. If there was an RFE issued before the denial, you should be able to see what CIS was concerned about.

My I-94 expires in december 2010. I have an approved Advance parole till Dec 2011(I485 is pending). Is it required to travel outside the country and get a new I-94 ?

I agree that an error in name order on an EAD is not likely to cause any major problems. However, You can apply for a replacement card by filing another I-765. If the error on the EAD is due to a USCIS mistake, no fee is required. However, if you caused the error by providing incorrect information, then you will have to pay the full $340 filing fee again.

Hello Guys....,
My and My Spouse I-485 & FP, EAD and AP all checks cleared yesterday and I found the Receipt Number on Back of the Cleared Checks. But when I check the status on the USCIS System. It says check the receipt Number. Is any one face this type of problem....? Please advice. Thank you.

I am about to switch to a new employer using AC21 and would work on EAD. I still have more than 2 years on my current H1B (i.e. I'm on 4th year right now).
Can I re-use my remaining H1B in case I need to in future? Because in case my I-485 gets a denial (which shouldn't be the case) I would be out of status!
My case:
sub-labor, 140 approved, I-485 pending for more than 1 year now.

Just carrying a copy of the receipt is sufficient. Normally the officer will only be interested in the passport and original AP document - that was my experience recently coming into the country.

Anyone heard of this? Some people can individually claim greencards for extraordinary circumstances. I wonder if our force of numbers waiting extraordinarily long might enable a private bill to succeed. Here is a news item:

H-1B through non-profits like Universities does not have a cap. Your only bet would be to find a job through one such an entity and apply for H-1B. Then you can pursue H-1B through any commercial entity during 2008 quota starting from April 2007.
